First of all, you need as many people as possible sitting in a big circle, and everyone needs a drink on/near them.
The basic idea of the game is to go around the circle using different actions/words until someone messes up, in which case they drink (Remember to agree on how much the loser drinks before the game starts, it can either be a finger, 2, 3, a shot, whatever, but make sure the loser takes it!). Please drink responsibly..
So, here are the basic rules in order to play, I've tried to explain as best as possible...
Please also remember, all of the words need to be said loudly, with immense enthusiasm, and most importantly, in a cowboy/texan accent! Otherwise, it just isn't fun...
You say: Yeehaa
Your action: You throw your arm, with a clenched fist, across your belly in the direction you want to go.
Result: You pass it along to the person next to you. So if person A (See diagram to the top left) starts with'Yeehaa', and throws their arm to their left, person B then takes over and can either go 'Yeehaa' again to pass it to person C, or do another action.. Person B cannot however, pass it back to person A using 'Yeehaa', you must continue with the flow using this rule.
Note: This is the most essential and basic action, so if you can't remember any other action, or are unsure, just go 'Yeehaa'... Although this is also the most common/boring, so try and use something else..
2: Hoe Down
You say: Hoe Down
Your action: You pull your arm down by your side, kind of like your a trucker pulling the horn.
Result: You reverse the order of play. So, if person A says 'Yeehaa' to person B, then person B does a 'Hoe Down', it goes back to person A, and they can either go 'Yeehaa' to person E, or do another action.
Note: If the direction of play is coming from your left, you must use your right arm. If the direction of play is coming from your right, you must use your left arm. Failure to use the correct arm means you lose.
3: Ride The Pony / Hay Barn
You say: EITHER 'Ride The Pony' OR 'Hay Barn', depending on which rule you wish to teach.
Your action: Ride The Pony: Put your right arm up in the air and shake it around as if you're doing a 'lasso', while your left hand is doing a 'spanking' action from left to right. Hay Barn: You put you hand/arms slanted above your head to make a 'roof'.
Result: Skips the next person along. So, if person A says 'Yeehaa' to person B, then person B says 'Ride The Pony', it is up to person D to go 'Yeehaa' or another action. If person C reacts, they lose.
Note: You should only teach 1 of these options, different people play with different rules. 'Hay Barn' is more commonly used, but 'Ride The Pony' is a little funner.
3.5: The Chant: Now you know the 3 basic rules, you should start doing the starting chant before each round to get the game going! (Although if people lose often you can skip it now and again). Anyone can start the chant, and if started, everyone else has to join in. Even if you stopped playing the game an hour ago, this starts it up again.. These are the words: Oooooohhhhhhhhhh, let the hula hula games begin, YEEHAA, let the hula hula games begin, YEEHAA, yeehaa.... (That final yeehaa is the person who started the chant, beginning the actual game with a yeehaa). The action for this, is while you say the chant, you hit the top of your legs with both hands, then clap your hands, then hit your legs etc, then during the 2 'yeehaas' you essentially do a 'Hoe Down' with both arms.
You say: Cow Girl
Your action: You move your hands down your body over your (imaginary for guys) breasts, then as you get to your stomach, move your hands to your side and push them outwards as if your following the surface of a poufy dress. While you do all this, you slowly bend your knees. (This was very hard to explain but it's really easy to do!)
Result: Play reverses and skips a person (essentially doing both 'Hoe Down' and 'Ride The Pony'). So, if person A says 'Yeehaa' to person B, and person B goes 'Cow Girl', then play continues backwards to person E, who can then either 'Yeehaa' person D, or do another action.
5: Hey There Lil Doggie Doggie
You say: Hey There Lil Doggie Doggie
Your action: You essentially make 'bunny ears' using your index finger on each hand, but point your index fingers in the direction of another player instead of upwards.
Result: You essentially pass the play onto the person your fingers point to. So, if person A, goes 'Hey There Lil Doggie Doggie' and their fingers point to person D, then person D can either go 'Yeehaa' in either direction, or another action, but NOT 'Hey There Lil Doggie Doggie' again.
Note: It is common for someone who has received a 'Hey There Lil Doggie Doggie', to then do the same to someone else, and then they do it again to someone else etc etc.. Hence why if you receive it, you must do any action except a 'Hey There Lil Doggie Doggie'.
6: Four Wheel Drive
You say: Four Wheel Drive Dougie Dougie
Your action: You stand up, and pretend you're driving a 4X4. You stick your right arm out in front of you, steering the car side to side, while your left hand changes imaginary gears numerous times.
Result: Everyone else stands up and does exactly the same action (So you end up doing it twice, once by yourself, and once with everyone). After everyone finishes, you all sit down, and the person who started it does another action! Essentially, play does not change, it is just a fun, rowdy action!
Note: This has no 'official' purpose, in that there is really no end result, as the person who does this, ends up doing another action afterwards to continue play. But it is an essential rule to teach, and to the game!
7: This Town Ain't Big Enough
You say: This Town Ain't Big Enough For.... You Two...
Your action: You stand up while saying your words, then as you say 'You Two' you point at 2 players.
Result: The 2 people you point to have to stand up and 'draw their guns'. Both of them basically have to stand up, grab their imaginary guns from their imaginary holsters on their hips, and then point their finger like a gun to the other person who 'draws'. The person who pulls out their gun and aims it at the other person first, wins. The person who loses has to drink. The Hula Hula game then has to re-start, with the loser beginning play.
8: The Lasso
You say: I lasso.... You Two...
Your action: You stand up while saying your words, then as you say 'You Two' you point at 2 players.
Result: The 2 people you point at have to permanently switch seats. The person who sits down in the other persons seat first, wins. The person who loses, drinks. The Hula Hula game then has to re-start, with the loser beginning play.
Note: This can get messy! You should only teach this rule if it is relatively easy to switch seats. It can also get a little violent if the 'switchers' meet half way round and are determined not to let the other person win, so maybe lay down some ground rules! Accidents can, and have happened! Finally, you should advise people to watch out for their drinks getting spilt, and also remember to switch the players drinks afterwards.
You say: Cotton Eye Joe
Your action: You grab your imaginary hat from the front, and politely present it to another player (as if you were a gentleman with a top hat saying hello to a lady)
Result: You pass the play to the person you point your imaginary hat at, and activate the Cotton Eye Joe dance. This is where the person who receives the play has to stand up and go (in a country accent): "If it hadn't bin for cotton eye joe, i'dav been married 'long time ago", then everyone else has to stand up and join in and go: "Where did ya come from, where did ya go, where did ya come from cotton eye joe". Then the person who received the play continues with a 'Yeehaa' in either direction, or another action.
Note: While anyone is singing the song, it musy be accompanied by the country dance: While standing, you put the thumb from both your hands into the top of your belt buckle, while pointing the rest of your hand outwards (standard cowboy stance). Then, as you're singing, you move one leg up in the air and out to the side, keeping your knee bent, so the top half of your leg is pointing near horizontal, and the bottom half of your leg is still near vertical, then put this leg down, and do the same with the other leg, alternating frequently in rhythm.
10: Billy Ray
You say: Billy Ray
Your Action: You grab your imaginary hat from the front, and politely present it to another player (as if you were a gentleman with a top hat saying hello to a lady)
Result: Same as above, but with a different song. You pass the play to the person you point your imaginary hat at, and activate the Achy Breaky Heart dance. This is where the person who receives the play has to stand up and go (in a country accent): "Don't tell my heart... my achy breaky heart", then everyone else has to stand up and join in and go: "cuz I just don't think it'd understand, YEEHAA"(That last 'yeehaa' was just the 1 person who recieved the play, continuing it by going 'yeehaa' in line with the end of the song... in either direction)
11: Tumbleweed
You say: Tumbleweed
Your action: None, you just say it really quickly.
Result: Everyone has to stand up, do a 360 turn around, and sit back down as quickly as possible. The last person to sit back in their seat has to drink. The game is then re-started by the loser.
Note: Look out for sneaky people who just sit there and pretend to have done it really quickly..
12: Grenade
You say: Grenade!!!
Your action: None, you just need to say it quickly and fearfully as if a grenade has just landed on the table.
Result: Everyone has to get under the table. Anyone who's head isn't under the table, loses. The game is then re-started by one of the losers.
Note: This can only be played if there is a table, and you can get underneath it without too much damage (i.e. lifting the table up and spilling all the drinks!). You can also try other options such as leaving the room as quickly as possible, and the last one out, loses.

Cool game. Thanks for the detailed rules, its a nightmare trying to find game instructions. Teaching people new games is a bit of a mission but this one is well worth the effort
Love this game!
Some great additions too, especially the Cotton Eye Joe rule.. so much fun.
